Hi, I’m Hallie.

I’m so glad you’re here. You’ve taken an often intimidating first step in the therapy journey — searching for providers! Whether this is your first time looking into therapy, or you’re a seasoned therapy pro, finding the right therapist is a crucial part of the process. Here is a little about me to help your decision making:

As a licensed clinical social worker and licensed clinical addiction specialist, I have been doing mental health work since 2010. For the last 8 years my focus has been the opioid crisis. My experience with opioid addiction exposed me to a wide range of mental health challenges and resources, given how far reaching opioid addiction is. I originally studied psychology at Appalachian State University and got my Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have worked in office settings, residential settings, and have done in-home services. I supervise and train new clinical social workers and addiction specialists because I believe the good of our field depends on helping each other grow.

I am also a significant other, a mom, and a dog owner; a daughter, a sister, and a friend. I care deeply about growth and humility, and I am always trying to be my best self in each role, so I know how exhausting it can get.

I love reading, doing crafts, and game nights. The smell of fresh air and the feeling of sunshine rejuvenates me, but sitting in the grass makes me itchy. I cannot watch movies where the dog dies, I will never outgrow Pixar, and I love a good binge-watching session. Some of the most mundanely polarizing things about me include that I hate cilantro, and have no preference for which way the toilet paper should be on the roll. Oh, one more thing, my name actually rhymes with Sally, just in case you weren’t sure!

How I work.

I enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds, including race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, and ability. Regardless of your background, my clients are navigating substance use disorders, life transitions, relationship issues, emotional dysregulation, depression and other mood disturbances, anxiety, and trauma. If you’re going through a hard time, or just want to stay ahead of hard times to come, I could be the right person for you!

To give you a snapshot of my training and style, I am a trauma-informed psychotherapist and have a background in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and am Gottman Level 1 trained (which is specifically for relationships). I employ an eclectic and collaborative approach, ensuring that we decide together what interventions make the most sense for you. This means that I use concepts and skills from several different therapy models, tailored specifically to you, and chosen with you.

Open and honest communication is a critical part of a successful therapeutic relationship, and I strive to create a space where clients feel safe sharing, offering me feedback, and exploring what is working and what is not. People do not come with manuals, and we will work together to find the path that is the best fit for you.

My goal is to help you get comfortable with the uncomfortable, feel ready to face the unknown, and to accept the challenging. Remember, the only way out is through.
